A PLACE, NOT A CROSSING.
II prize in a two-stage competition for an architectural and urban concept for the entrance area to the Stogi beach, Gdańsk, Poland
team: Anna Bukowy, Konstanty Kosma Mikołajczak, Eryk Szczepański

The entrance area of the beach in Stogi is currently just an area filled with random objects. It does not have the character of a space that you visit, stay in and want to stay in. Thus, it only serves as a transition. In the project, we assumed the full use of the potential of location by creating a space that is not only a communication connection, but a real Place - defined, associated and full of life. For this purpose, we used functional and spatial measures, which make up the three main layers of the project (Platform, Complex and Roofs). Thus, we have outlined an urban and architectural framework that allows you to maintain the project in the form of a staged and coherent undertaking. By drawing the horizontal lines of the project layers, we referred to the horizontal layout of the coastal landscape. At the same time, we took into account the history of the context, local user needs and natural values. We also paid a lot of attention to the selection of materials, obtaining the right proportions and non-exclusive accessibility.
